Social Media Tips for the Direct Sales Business Owner

Image
Social Media Tips for the Direct Sales Business Owner Inez I spend most of my days chasing my dreams... and my toddler! There really isn't time for much else but when I can, I like to squeeze in a shower and a trip to Sephora.  First things first (am I the only one that thinks that's a weird saying?),  I am  pro  direct selling . The reason I want to emphasize this is because I think direct sales gets a bad rap and I want to be clear that I am not in any way putting it down. Through the years, I have been a consultant for a few different direct sales companies as a way to make supplemental income for the not-so-competitive salary that one generally receives working for non-profits. In fact, I recently made the decision to become an associate with LegalShield. (Don't worry, I'm not writing this to give you a spiel!) While I have never gotten rich from direct sales (to be fair, that was not my goal), I have made a fair amount of "extra" incom...

How to Strengthen Weak Ties and Expand Your Network

Image
How to Strengthen Weak Ties and Expand Your Network Every day we continuously build our strong ties. We talk to our boss, we grab coffee with a coworker sitting next to us, we go jogging with a close friend. These habits and rituals can be comforting, but they can also be restrictive if they only expose us to limited ideas and ways of thinking. When we limit ourselves to interacting only with our strong ties, we prevent ourselves from the benefits of weak ties. Weak ties is a sociology term referring to surface-level relationships or acquaintances. These are individuals we might see on Facebook, but never  really  talk to or get to know. They are the people in our office who work on a different account or the person you sit next to at your volunteer meeting but never actually engage with. When we intentionally build connections with weak ties, we expose ourselves to new things, different ways of thinking, and have the opportunity to create a more dynam...
