Milwaukee Highland Games

Hours: 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday
Highlights: The "Parade of Tartans" at noon is perhaps the most colorful spectacle of the day, but the 5 p.m. Massed Bands of bagpipes will wow your ears with sound. Visit with celebrity Chef Eric McBride and watch him prepare Celtic dishes, or relax in the tea room with fresh scones before watching a day of medieval entertainment for all ages. View ax throwing and longbow demonstrations, and let the kids get into the act at the padded weapons tournament. All events will be held rain or shine, with musical performances by Dublin O'Shea, War Piper and the Dirty Wellies.
Admission: $10 adults; children age 12 and under get in free; active military in uniform get in free; $3 off before 10 a.m. with a per person donation of a nonperishable food item for the Tosa Food Bank.

PrideFest
Date/place: June 5-7, Maier Festival Park
Hours: 3-midnight Friday; noon-midnight Saturday; noon-10 p.m. next Sunday
Highlights: This gathering of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community features an opening night performance by Alex Newell of "Glee" and nightly performances by the fire-eating Brew City Fire Brigade. The Dance Pavilion is a popular stop for drag entertainment, as well as the Stonewall Stage for informational talks on important topics. Additional Mainstage headliners include Ani DiFranco, Ty Herndon and En Vogue, with emerging artists and Milwaukee favorites spread out throughout the grounds.
