As a restaurateur, you have few options on how to grow your net sales and profits. Although many options, they are not always easy ones or financially doable within your current position.

You can:
1. Add tables: this can be very costly due to addition and remodeling costs and the hassle of the mess of construction. Do you close or just work around the construction?
2. Raise menu prices: this can be deadly to your restaurant! This is the last ditch effort and is done only when your vendors raise costs where you have no choice.
3. Turn tables faster: A good option, but you don't want to upset your clientele. If they consistently feel rushed, they may lok for an alternative restaurant to dine. Your patrons are there for a reason, they like your restaurant, and rushing them out can be a turn off.
4. Generate more revenue per table: This is a great idea, but how?
Raise prices on food or drink? we discussed this in option 2, and didn't think this was a great idea.

How about creating a better dining experience by having consistent accountable service who has the ability to be your sales force and not just order takers?
A personal menu consultant-This server will know the menu inside out and be a server rockstar! They will have the ability to upsale items that the customers would normally not consider.
Pair wines, beers and cocktails with specific menu items and even take deserts orders before dinner is served. This individual will be trained in an uniform accountable manner.
This will provide several benefits:

1. Increased table revenue.
2. Increased server income.
3. Overall better dining experience for your customers.
4. Better server retention.
The overall goal of your restaurant is to create a memorable dining experience for your guests so they will chose to return again and again. This is (by far) the most effective method to do that, and the most cost effective to say the least.
No one wants to loose customers, so show them a better dining experience verses your competition and they will keep coming back to you!
Check out how you can train your servers from order takers to up-sale rock stars and watch your bottom line skyrocket!
